Well Done Lucy!

Whilst recently being at the Great Manchester Run we met a great number of admirable people who were taking part in the event to raise money helping to contribute in the fight against Cancer.
One of these people was Lucy who was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer 10 years ago. Lucy was told that she had just a 15% chance of survival over 2 years, but despite this she was running the 10K and feeling very well.
Lucy originally took up running for a challenge 1 year after her diagnosis, she explained that running also helped with the bone pain that was experienced due to a result of her treatment. At first Lucy struggled, barely managing to run to the end of her street, but she didn't give up! Slowly improving, she began to take part in running events such as the race for life and The Manchester 10k.

To celebrate the success of being cancer free for 10 years, Lucy decided to really challenge herself and entered the Chester Half Marathon at the last minute. For the 4 weeks running up to the event Lucy trained extremely hard, and on the day managed to complete the course in 2 hours 28 minutes!

The whole family (who we had the pleasure of meeting) took part in this years Great Manchester Run where Lucy achieved her Personal Best of 1 hour 1 minute (shaving a whole 5 minutes off last years time) and everyone including the Soreen Team were very proud of her and extremely touched.

Lucy explained how she previously used expensive energy drinks, gels and bars to boost and maintain her energy reserves on longer runs, however since discovering Soreen (which she partly attributes her achievement to) Lucy now uses our Lunchbox Loaves to help keep fuelled up. Lucy is planning a marathon in October and all of us at Soreen wish her the very best, Well Done Lucy and family we'll be looking out for you!.
