FAQ’s

The use of palm oil in our products

Here at Soreen we only use RSPO (Round Table On Sustainable Palm Oil) accredited palm oil. The RSPO has a production standard for palm oil which sets global best practice. This means that the palm oil that we use is traceable back to palm oil plantations who commit to not clearing forests in order to grow their palm oil crop.

At Soreen, we follow the guidance of bodies like the WWF (World Wide Fund. Here is some information about what the WWF believe about the right practices concerning palm oil https://www.wwf.org.uk/updates/8-things-know-about-palm-oil

Our membership of RSPO comes under “Samworth Brothers” (Gibbs Croft).
You can find out more about this accreditation by visiting the RSPO website.

Is Soreen healthy?

When it comes to a healthy diet, balance is the key. You should aim to eat a wide variety of foods in the right amounts to give your body what it needs. Malt loaf fits into the carbohydrate food group and carbohydrates are your body’s main source of energy.

Due to the inclusion of malt, barley and dried fruit our malt loaf is an ideal carbohydrate to have in your diet as it is classed as a complex carbohydrate which means it releases energy slowly and acts as a more sustained source of energy.

Additionally our loaves are low in fat and high in fibre. Our malt loaf has often been advocated as a snacking alternative to chocolate and other high fat snacks, our lunchbox loaves even fit the Governments Nutritional Food Standards for Schools. Due to changing consumer lifestyles our products have been designed in different shapes and sizes to suit busy lifestyles.

Serving Suggestions

Help! My loaf is very difficult to slice!

We know that cutting our squidgy loaf can be a bit of a head scratcher… our team of expert slicers have spent a lot of time investigating the exact procedure to ensure optimum portions.

The trick is…. A SHARP Serrated knife (but please be careful not to cut your fingers!)… and a gentle sawing action – rather than cutting – It’s as easy at that! Or you might find it easier slicing the loaf upside down.

I would like to try something different with my Soreen– do you have any yummy ideas I can try?

The possibilities are endless. We used our loaf and created a whole heap of suggestions for how you can eat your Soreen. Check out our Yummy Ideas section here.

Or you might have a better suggestion – why not send it to us using the link at the bottom of the page or you can share it with us on our Facebook (facebook.com/soreenhq) and twitter (@SoreenHQ) pages.
