Soreen Gives Essex Country Show a Taste to Remember

Posted on: 16th September 2013

The Essex Country Show, held on the 14th/15thSeptember, was a great opportunity for families and friends to get together against a fascinating backdrop of agricultural history and traditional rural crafts.

Soreen was proud to be included in the show, and despite the damp weather we proved to be a big attraction with the crowds, who were happy to queue in the rain for a taste of the UK’s favourite malt loaf.

Our eye catching Soreen van (which you couldn’t help but notice due to the bright yellow!) was parked and ready to give out and exclusive taste of our new Lunchbox Loaves and delicious Fruity Five Breakfast Toastie Loaf. We’re sure everyone enjoyed the five different types of fruit, slightly buttered and toasted to keep tummies warm in the cool weather.

It’s safe to say we were happy to keep spirits high and hunger at bay for the whole two days of the show, giving out samples of our malt loaf, plus other delicious Soreen treats, including a choice of mouthwatering fruit loafs like Apple & Sultana and Banana.

Soreen’s squidgy goodness comes in all shapes, sizes and flavours and the Soreen van never seemed to run out of tasty ideas. But we did come close to running out of samples as demand was so high, but we definitely had a ball meeting lots of Soreen fanatics and even a few people who had never tried Soreen before (try not to faint!).

Of course, there were lots of other examples of food throughout the show, with several stands within the Farmer’s Market presenting a vast array of traditional and tasty foods, including preserves, cheeses, wines and herbs.

The fair itself gained prominence due to its tradition of showcasing traditional steam engines. Originally, around half a dozen engines were on show, and over the years, it has become an influential cultural event for the area.

And it wasn’t just the public who flocked to attend. Several celebrities were seen out and about with their families (hopefully enjoying some Soreen too). Mick Norcross of TOWIE fame was there, and even tweeted that he’d visited the show with his family.
